I take no credit
for finding this reference as Hal Lindsey touched
on it during last Fridays show but failed
to go into a lot of detail. Therefore, I only
expound on his original discovery. Writing to the
Thessalonians Paul informed them of the Rapture:
"For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with
the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: Then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall
we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians
4:16-17)
Then, in the very
next chapter warns them to stay alert and be
ready, unlike those that will remain:
"Therefore
let us not sleep, [G2518 - katheudo - be
indifferent] as do others; [G3062 - loipoi -
remaining ones] but let us watch [G1127 - gregoreuo - be
vigilant] and be sober." [G3525 - nepho - watch] (1
Thessalonians 5:6)
A literal reading
of the original Greek would be:
'Let us not be
indifferent as those who will be left behind, but
let us be vigilant and watch.' (1 Thessalonians
5:6)
And there, dear
brethren is a direct, irrefutable reference to a
pretrib Rapture!
